Celebrity Citizen was a program we developed to celebrate the efforts of those in the community who brought tourism dollars to Springfield. By facilitating their group, club, or organization to hold their event in Springfield, these citizens are directly responsible for improving the local economy. By recognizing these advocates in a public manner, we raise awareness for the economic impact anyone can have on their city. Honorees are celebrated at an annual banquet, hosted by the mayor, and receive a certificate and statue in the shape of Springfield’s favorite son.

The Celebrity Citizen program was honored at the Annual Governor’s Hometown Awards. To date, tens of millions of dollars have been brought to the city by 200+ Celebrity Citizens.
